Keeping The Flow Couples Retreat to Sedona

By:  Katherine Lash

A relationship is like a river, it ebbs and flows and at times gets caught in the back water. This watery side of the partnership can become stale and stagnant. Unfortunately, sometimes we don’t realize when something is amiss. We just have a feeling that something is not flowing the way it should be.

When the disharmony reaches a point where each partner realizes that something is missing, commonly nothing is said! The reasons for this lack of communication vary: “I didn’t want to make my partner feel bad,” “I didn’t quite know how to explain it,” “I thought it was too late.” The result of this lack of communication is that tensions build and alienation occurs.

Most couples don’t seek help until they are long down that road of stagnation. Very often, people don't attend to their problems until they are too much to handle. As humans, we don't want to deal with pain, negativity or anger.

Many times partners turn to work, children, or other means of distraction to avoid looking at the deeper issue. As we push these feelings away or hold them inside, they build up and become much more divisive and serious.

At this point there is a much bigger issue to untangle. The partner who has been clueless now feels desperate and frantic. As changes are made, they look for reassurance that all will be well but the injured partner can’t give it — at least, not yet because the feelings of distance have grown so wide.

Yet these gaps can be filled and the stagnation can be addressed before the relationship is long down the road of permanent injury and possible dissolution. At SpiritQuest Sedona Retreats we offer courses where we teach the seven secrets to a highly successful relationship. In order for relationships to thrive, they need attention, they need gentle care. A relationship that is put on a back burner for too long will begin to wilt away.

We need to avoid being put in the position where we look back and kick ourselves for not taking the time to do the little things that keep our partnerships going. When you feel like something isn’t quite right between the two of you, that is the time to speak up. Resolve to do something before it’s too late. Step out of your day to day world and join us at a Couples Retreat here in beautiful Sedona, Arizona. SpiritQuest Sedona Retreats
