David Metaphysician Medium and Healer

By:  Sam Stevens

It is almost impossible to become a member of the realm without somehow benefiting from the wise, buoyant energies of David. This psychic, who also functions as the Copy Editor and Assistant Manager for the site, has quite a knack for popping up at just the right time and in just the right place with the very words that you need to hear to lift you out of perplexity or a funk. Clients always remark on how just hanging out in with this witty and incredibly knowledgeable psychic and healer boosts their spirits and makes them feel as if everything will eventually be O.K.

When you get a reading from David, you are not just "getting your future told." This talented Reiki Master is probably also scanning you for emotional and spiritual blocks as well as beaming you encouragement, healing and love from his vast spiritual resources. He also completely blows the stereotype of the psychic as a misfit out of the water; he is living proof that psychic talent does not have to be at the expense of extraordinary social skills.

David is one of the more formally trained psychics on this site and is a serious student and teacher, of both the mystical and magical arts. His areas of specialty are mediumship, Spiritism, dream interpretation, working with our Ancestors, spellcraft, crystal gazing, healing, magical baths, cleansing and Reiki-based healing modalities. He is an accomplished writer, whose work has been published online and in various mystical and occult journals and he is the editor for both Lydia Sirhawk (Realm's World Famous Astrologer and Medium) and Samantha Stevens (who writes the New Age Notebook.) If you have a question about spellcraft, magical protocol or spiritual philosophy, David is probably *the* psychic on this site who is best qualified to provide you with the answers that you need for those questions.

David is also blessed with truly phenomenal channeling and mediumship abilities that he has inherited from his mother's side of the family. He has the rare ability to host and converse with spirits as well as an uncanny ability to foretell the most probable road of the future from among the many possible roads ahead of us using a wide variety of interpretative skills and tools from the various cultures he has studied.

Samantha: What was your first magical experience or awareness of magic and spirit?

David: My first magical experience was being born and surviving a severe case of jaundice.

According to my Grandmother and Mother my first awareness of magic and the spiritual realm was scaring the crap out of them when I was three years old by having conversations with a white haired, white bearded old man who was in my room at night. No one in the family had white hair or a beard, at least not while I was a child. Apparently I used to talk to this man who would come at night with a golden angel standing beside him to talk to me about my life and he would say things like life would be hard and then good for me as I grew up to embrace my destiny.

Other than that it would have been talking to the little red men that made the roses grow in the garden at age five or so. My grandmother never denied that I saw them; she just kind of freaked out about it and told me that I shouldn't be mixing with them and should walk away if they were around.

Samantha: What in retrospect do you think the little red men were?

David: I always sort of figured they were Earth Elementals or Plant Devas from the

Rose bushes that grew everywhere in my grandmother's garden.

Samantha: Did you, like many males, have a spurt of psychic activity around puberty?

I am just curious, as that is when some start manifesting knocks in the night and so forth.

David: That was when I started working with Tarot cards so I had a medium to work it out in. I was actually about 12ish.

Samantha: As you are a happily married gay man, do you feel that you feel that you have extra insight to offer to gay clients and their problems when it comes to counseling them?

David: I have perhaps additional insights to offer a more diverse client base than someone who has no understanding of the broader spectrum of sexuality and relationship paradigms that exist more openly in the 21 st Century.

Samantha: When did you first start to study metaphysics as formal training?

David: Actually I studied Tarot and the Edgar Cayce materials then ended up working for a while in a New Age store called Crystal Spectrum in Toronto, Canada. Through working their I ended up living as a roommate with an ex-Nun named Audrey-Ann whose original training was with Elizabeth Clare Prophet's I AM church. She eventually branched off to do her own thing working with crystals, colors, stones, healing angels and ascended masters and became quite a prominent Spiritual Teacher in the Southern Ontario New Age Community specializing in Color Theory and Healing.

Samantha: What was next big leap or passion in your spiritual path?

David: From there I ended up exploring British Traditional Wicca and Ritual Witchcraft ultimately progressing through the various degrees of Initiation in the Gardnerian and Minoan Brotherhood traditions and functioning in the role of a High Priest in both traditions until the politics that are so rampant in the modern neopagan movement wore me out and I decided it was time that I figured out where my real home was.

These days I've found my way home spiritually within the Lukumi Religion as an Aborisha and devotee of the Orishas and only function as a Wiccan Elder when asked to out of necessity. Apparently a decent 3 rd Degree Gardnerian High Priest is a commodity in Canada these days.

Samantha: Who are your metaphysical heroes -- the writers or practitioners that have influenced you and your arts?

David: I want to strive to learn the lessons taught by and understand the spiritual life of Rigoberto Rodriguez, Oshun Yemi who was a gay Priest of Oshun from Cuba in the early 20th century who initiated the lineage of Orisha Worship my spiritual ancestors come from.

The others who I feel influenced by most these days would probably be either Arthur Ford, who for all his struggles and poor health in later life was the world's foremost medium of his time, or if you want to go much further back, Miriam of Magdala (Mary Magdalene) whom I, and several noted authors, believe was a real historical figure and a Priestess of the Babylonian Goddess of Love, Ishtar at Magdala whose mythos was interwoven with the stories of Yeheshua whom people in our modern times would better know as Jesus.

Samantha: Can you describe the difference between working with a spirit and a spirit guide?

David: I believe Spirit Guides form what is known as a Spiritual Court as referenced in the works of Alain Kardec, a French Spiritist from the 1800's. Not all Spirits are Spirit Guides or part of your Spiritual Court though, some are earthbound spirits and others are ancestral spirits. Earthbound spirits have a karmic debt they must work off in order to go home to God and open the way to rebirth.

Working with one's Ancestors allows one to build a foundation for one's life and to recognize and acknowledge the true roots of who they are and where they come from. It also makes your ancestors and spiritual court stronger so they can aid you with the troubles and travails of life.

There are good spirits and there are not so good spirits, and there are plain downright nasty spirits. We each attract the ones we are most like to ourselves and this is one of the reasons it can be so difficult to struggle through life for many people because when they are in darkness or despair or obsessing they can attract like spirits to themselves who will try to latch onto them even as their own spiritual guides and guardians try to lift them out and away from those ?spirit traps'.

Samantha: Do you think it is dangerous for the average person who is not trained to contact the dead?

David: I think that people who do not know what they are doing end up contacting dead folks that are not their own blood or spiritual ancestors. If this happens they can certainly run into some hot spots that they will necessitate the aid of more appropriately trained people to get through those challenges. The best thing is to not be too ambitious.

Be willing to be patient and start from the ground up by contacting your own ancestors and loved ones FIRST. Then you can move onto other areas after you have mastered that.

A simple ancestral shrine can be created by placing a white cloth over a small table and then putting a large brandy glass filled with cool water in the center, a single white candle you light when you want to pray for your ancestors and perhaps some sweet-smelling incense or fresh white flowers and then you can expand on this by putting only the pictures of your deceased ancestors on that table in a photo album especially for them. You change the water and flowers every week and spend at least 30 minutes a week with the candle lit praying prayers your loved ones would have prayed for their enlightenment and wellbeing. Avoid putting the pictures of anyone living on that table once you establish it as an ancestral altar. On the birthday of your deceased loved one you can prepare a special meal of their favorite foods and put a plate on the shrine for them for 24 hours and light a fresh white candle with a cup of strong coffee or their favorite beverage and pray especially for them.

As you become more familiar with working with this shrine you will probably notice you begin to dream of messages from your ancestors who will try and help you with your ongoing struggles through life. There are other ways to work with your ancestor's, do some solid research and explore the possibilities; feel free to ask me questions in the chat room during you readings as well.

Samantha: What is your advice to the person who keeps obsessing over a love lost or who keeps doing same spell and it not working?

David: Frankly, please just get over it. This lifetime is too short and the miles on the odometer click over way too quickly to spend years trapped in obsession over that ?one perfect love' that obviously wasn't so perfect if they ran off with your best friend. You are obsessing over the past and the future is flying by, along with a dozen or so lovers God sent you to make you happy again. Dwelling on that stuff can consume you and ruin your life.

Not everyone has the Ashe or power for magic and witchcraft. Don't go getting suckered by some loser Psychic who is too lazy to make money through the hard work of building up a solid and regular reading clientele through giving genuine and honest readings and, instead, tells you they can reunite you with a lost love or free you from a mystical curse for $1000, $2000, or $10, 000 dollars either. If you want to throw away $10,000 like that toss it my way I still have student loans I need to pay off! * grin *

Here is a little secret for you: Repeating the same spell more than 3x in a row over a 3 month period (unless it's a spell designed to be done a specific way that requires it) is a waste of time and energy. If there are no results after the 3rd shot then its time to realize the universe is trying to tell you something.

The truth is that we can only ever truly change or manipulate ourselves. Witchcraft that is used to control or bind another person to you always has a price of its own that it will exact and sometimes obsession can be the result of it as well and it becomes a really hard thing to undo.

God NEVER gives us just one shot at happiness and love. God is far smarter than that and realizes that we humans are, ultimately, fragile creatures who are easily wounded by the bittersweet sting of love and life and there is always someone out there for us. Though? when you are in a healthy relationship, do yourself a favor and work to maintain it and grow together. Good relationships have to be tended just like a beautiful rose garden.

Samantha: Amen to that!
