What is a Vortex

By:  Eaglewoman

What is a Vortex?

A vortex can be explained as a place on the earth where energy is either entering the earth through Ley Lines (energy lines) or it is projecting out of the earth.

Ley Lines run on the earth, just like the acupuncture meridians or energy lines that run through our body, and connect to our chakras and organs. The earth has a chakra system, and meridians that connect this system, just like our own system. When the vortex has energy that is entering the earth, it is a feminine vortex, and enhances meditation and going within. It is also considered magnetic energy (drawing in).

The energy vortex sites that have energy leaving the earth are considered masculine vortex sites and are electro-magnetic. Male energy vortex sites are considered best for practicing Chi Kung, meditations on your goals that you want to manifest, or any more active practice.

For those with a very logical mind, you may want something tangible that you can feel, see, or perhaps hear. Think about the energy that travels through the circuits and electrical lines of your home. This energy cannot be seen, yet it powers everything in your house. It is easy to think of this energy as real, because it will allow your TV to turn on and run. However, you do not see this energy. The energy that runs through our own body cannot be seen except with Kirilian photography, yet you know when your energy feels balanced and when it feels low and you need sleep.

Sedona

Sedona, located in Arizona, is the land of many vortex sites. But why there are so many in Sedona? This magical red rocks hosts more than twenty vortex sites within a twenty-mile radius.

Many people experience the energy of Sedona in various ways. Some have told me that they feel the energy immediately as they enter 179 coming in through the Village of Oak Creek. They begin to feel tingling in their hands, or feet, or perhaps they explain that they feel deep inner peace. Some feel energized and do not find a need for as much sleep here. Sometimes those who travel here have not allowed themselves to feel in a very long time, and they will feel sad or angry or perhaps cry for no apparent reason.

Each vortex, has a quality of energy, and therefore will enhance certain healing meditations. Many people come to Sedona to find healing on various different levels. Others seek clarity and direction, while others seek inner emotional healing, and still others look for physical healing from many chronic diseases. We also have those who are just curious, and want to see if they “feel” anything or if all this is just new age hype.

I have been visiting Sedona Vortex Sites for more than 18 years. During my many visits, I experienced healing on all levels. I was drawn to Sedona shortly after my first divorce, and was seeking inner healing and clarity in my own life. The vortex that I was most drawn to at the time was Boynton Canyon.

Boynton is balanced in male and female energies and is a magical place for healing wounds from divorce and other imbalances in male/female energies. I have been blessed by receiving visions while in the Boynton Canyon area, and it still remains my favorite place to take our guests.

One of my other favorite places is Airport Mesa. The views are awesome here, and the energy is so strong that most are able to connect with it, and experience major shifts and insights. There is both a masculine and feminine epicenter at the Airport site, and depending on your intention, it is a wonderful place to go for sunrise and or sunset meditations. This is a wonderful place to go and meditate and experience many of the energies of the various vortex sites.

The Chapel of the Holy Cross in the Red Rocks holds unmatched beauty, and the energies in the chapel are mystical and emotionally healing. If you are a hiker, there is a wonderful hike in this area. It is well marked, and moderate enough so that most can handle the challenge. The rocks that surround the chapel are shape-shifters. If you sit and lightly gaze at the rocks their face will shift right before your eyes. Light a candle in the Chapel and say a prayer for yourself or a loved one.

Next in line of favorites is Indian Gardens. In Oak Creek Canyon along Oak Creek are magical springs that feed Oak Creek. Our Ancestors have respected, and revered these waters for their magical healing powers. After you pass the trout farm, you will notice a red rock out-cropping near the highway - just past this area, there is a pull-off. You will find paths that lead down to the waters for meditating and dipping your feet into the water. Indian Gardens is a water vortex and therefore is very healing for the emotions.

The favorite site for weddings and healing the broken heart is Cathedral Rock. Holding the energy of unconditional love or the Divine Mother energy, it is the site for hundreds of weddings each year. It is a more strenuous hike than many of the others, but worth the effort. My favorite meditation is one to connect with the Divine Mother and the energies of the inner male and female bringing balance and understanding to each. As we connect with our own inner male/female energies and create inner unity then we can finally create that divine union outside.

Each person who ventures into the vortex sites will have their own inner and outer journeys. The person who is hiking each one hoping to catch the energy during their hurried treks, are likely to miss any energy experience. Just like inner peace, for the ecstatic energy experience, one must slow down and allow themselves time to be enveloped by the energy.

Many people make the trip and hike on their own searching for the vortex experience but leave feeling they either missed it or it isn't real. They return and seek us out as guides. Once we have their intentions for their trip, i.e. healing, inner peace, clarity on direction, and loss of someone close, etc., we choose the appropriate vortex site, and create a private personal ceremony. As guides we assist our guests to connect with the land, their inner divine essence, and experience the healing energies of the vortex sites.
